RED HILLS HORSE TRIALS ON TV

Red Hills Horse Trials near Tallahassee, Florida, which begins tomorrow, March 11th through 13th, will once again be televised. A special one-hour show will be hosted by Roger Haller, equestrian expert and Anna Johnson; Tallahassee’s well-known TV personality. The show will include highlights of the three phases; dressage, cross country, and stadium jumping, plus interviews with Course Designer, Captain Mark Phillips and Builder, Hugh Lochore, as well as the riders. This commercial-free program, produced by Charles Belvin, will be aired shortly after the event on Comcast and Comcast Sports Southeast, WCTV (CBS affiliate), and WCOT (City of Tallahassee). Air-dates will be announced and on the Red Hills website – www.rhht.org.

Red Hills, host to an FEI World Cup Qualifier for the past two years, is one of only four FEI World Cup Qualifiers in the country in which riders will be vying for a place in the final to be held in Malmo, Sweden from August 11-14th, 2005.

As well as being an FEI World Cup Qualifier, Red Hills joins an elite selection of nine venues nationwide, which are part of the USEA Gold Cup Series and is one of just four in the Atlantic Group. The Gold Cup Series presented by the United States Eventing Association (USEA), offer competitors an opportunity to earn points towards the title of Gold Cup Champion at intermediate and advanced level.

In addition to the international and national qualifying classes, the event will feature Advanced, Open Intermediate, Intermediate, Open Preliminary and Preliminary divisions.

NOTES FOR EDITORS

  • Horse Trials comprises three phases or disciplines: dressage, cross country and show jumping. Each horse and rider combination has to compete in all three phases in any one division. A rider may ride more than one horse in each division. One horse may only compete in one division. The winning score is the horse/rider combination to finish with the lowest penalty marks.
